Personalised Alex Basketball Neon Sign

Names are always popular, but they're only the beginning.

Animals and simple graphics work brilliantly in children's rooms because they can become part of the theme of the space. Think dinosaurs, butterflies, footballs, lightning bolts, clouds, moons, stars, hearts, rainbows and favourite animals.

You can also combine a name with a graphic to create something completely personal - from Mia with a butterfly to Leo with a dinosaur or Oscar with a football.

The best colour isn't necessarily the brightest one - it should complement the room around it.

Pastel Pink and Purple work beautifully with softer bedrooms, while Ice Blue, Green and Blue suit everything from gaming and football themes to space and dinosaur rooms. Warm White is a particularly versatile option if you want something more subtle that can stay in the room as their tastes change.

For personalised designs, you can keep things playful with handwritten lettering or choose a cleaner font for a more contemporary look.

Size makes a bigger difference than most people expect.

A 60cm sign is ideal for a bedside table, shelf or smaller feature wall. Around 80cm works well above a single bed or chest of drawers, while 100–120cm creates a much stronger centrepiece above a bed or across a larger playroom wall.

Before choosing, measure the furniture or wall the sign will sit above rather than judging the sign in isolation. A sign that's too small can disappear on a large wall, while the right proportions make it feel like part of the room.

Neon doesn't have to live above the bed.

A sign can turn an empty playroom wall into a feature, brighten a reading corner, personalise a games area or add character above toy storage.

For shared spaces, graphics and phrases can sometimes work even better than names — allowing one design to become the focal point of the whole room.

Their favourite thing right now can become the inspiration for their room.

Create a roaring dinosaur for a prehistoric bedroom, a football for a football-mad child, a butterfly for something softer, or a rocket, planet and stars for a space-themed room.

Simple shapes and recognisable graphics tend to work particularly well in neon because their silhouettes remain clear when illuminated.

And if you can't find exactly what you're imagining, a custom design can combine their name, favourite colour and interests into one completely unique sign.
